The Directive has been amended by: -Council Directive 81/858/EEC of 19 October 1981 adapting, consequent upon the accession of Greece, Directive 80/778/EEC relating to the quality of water intended for human consumption. -Directive 91/692/EEC of 23 December 1991 standardizing and rationalizing reports on the implementation of certain Directives relating to the environment further amended by Regulation 1882/2003/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 September 2003 adapting to Council Decision 1999/468/EC (Celex N°31999D0468) the provisions relating to committees which assist the Commission in the exercise of its implementing powers laid down in instruments subject to the procedure referred to in Article 251 of the EC Treaty. | This Directive concerns standards for water intended for human consumption. Directive 98/83/EC entered into force on the 20th day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities - 05.12.1998. This repeal shall be without prejudice to Member States' obligations regarding deadlines for transposition into national law and for application as shown in Annex IV of Directive 98/83/EC.
