| T_SOURCE | 0 | ABSTRACT | Member States shall take the appropriate steps to eliminate pollution of the inland surface water, territorial waters, internal coastal waters and ground water by the dangerous substances in the families and groups of substances in List I of the Annex and to reduce pollution of the said waters by the dangerous substances in the families and groups of substances in List II of the Annex. In order to reduce pollution of the waters referred to in Article 1 by the substances within List II, Member States shall establish programmes. Summaries of the programmes and the results of their implementation shall be communicated to the Commission. The Council Directive 76/464/EEC has been amended by: -Directive 91/692/EEC of 23 December 1991 standardizing and rationalizing reports on the implementation of certain Directives relating to the environment further amended by Regulation (EC) No 1882/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 September 2003 adapting to Council Decision 1999/468/EC (Celex N°31999D0468) the provisions relating to committees which assist the Commission in the exercise of its implementing powers laid down in instruments subject to the procedure referred to in Article 251 of the EC Treaty. -Directive 2000/60/EC of 23 October 2000 establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy further amended by Decision No 2455/2001/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 November 2001 establishing the list of priority substances in the field of water policy.
