During the transition period up to 2014, the assessment of bathing water quality is done according the assessment rules of Directive 76/160/EEC if the necessary data set of 16 samples for 4 year assessment under Directive 2006/7/EC is not yet available. During that period, parameter 1 of the Annex to Directive 76/160/EEC shall not be taken into account in the annual report, and parameters 2 and 3 of the Annex to Directive 76/160/EEC shall be assumed to be equivalent to parameters 2 and 1 of column A of Annex I to this Directive. European summary report and country reports on bathing water quality for the 2012 bathing season based on the annual reports by reporting countries can be found at http://www.eea.europa.eu/themes/water/status-and-monitoring/state-of-bathing-water/state All Member States plus Croatia and Switzerland reported according to the Directive 2006/7/EC.
