T_OBLIGATION 0 REPORTING_FORMAT Art.16 reporting (Situation reports) on the status of urban waste water treatment, treatment performance, and the disposal of waste water and sludge. The purpose of the reports is to inform national governments, EU citizen and the Commission on the status and to ensure EU citizens a freedom of access to the information on the environment. The Commission prepared Guidance on terms and definitions of UWWTD (valid since 16/01/2007). It is put on the UWWTD CIRCA library together with preparatory documents discussed by various working groups (the latter in the meeting section). It will be integrated into Water Information System for Europe (WISE). As defined in Article 16 of the UWWT Directive, the reporting takes the form of a situation report on the disposal of urban waste water and sludge. Three key dates for the reporting were established : 1998, 2000 and 2005, and the reporting needed is on the conformity in equipment. The future reporting will more focus on the performance of the treatments. Besides this reporting obligation, Article 15 requires Member States to collect monitoring data (discharges from urban waste water treatment plants, amounts and composition of sludges disposed of to surface waters) and to make it available to the Commission within six months of receipt of a request. Manual and guidance for UWWTD Questionnaire 2007 (valid since 08/05/2007) with supporting documents and IT reporting tool for UWWTD Questionnaire 2007 are also available on the UWWTD CIRCA library. N
